+_Note: HTCondor v8.3.5 and above is much less likely to encounter this problem than earlier versions of HTCondor. If you have this problem, it is likely that upgrading to the latest version of HTCondor will solve it._

Usually when HTCondor daemons exit in this manner, it is because the system in
question has a non-standard Winsock Layered Service Provider (LSP) installed
on it. An LSP is, in effect, a plug-in for the TCP/IP protocol stack.
